Why was a 14 year old girl referred to surgery?
A 14-year-old white female patient was referred to our Department because of menstrual disorders (menorrhagia), and abdominal and back pain. Her family, past medical and surgical history was unremarkable.
When to worry about back pain in teens?

The pain is much worse when she is sitting or when she gets up from sitting ie out of the car or bath. She more or less carried on as normal but kept saying ‘my back still hurts’. Over the last couple of days however, she says her back is more painful and I am a bit concerned.
