You can surrender your cat by bring him to an open admissions shelter or rescue organization. If ensuring your cat ends up adopted into a loving home is important to you, there is another option that will help your cat be seen by millions of potential adopters.
Do I need to bring a cat carrier to the shelter?
All cats must be transported in a cat carrier. If you do not have a carrier, you may purchase a cardboard carrier for $5 at the shelter. For dogs, we do provide a collar and leash at adoption to make it easy to transport your new pet to your vehicle.
What happens to cats at no kill shelters?
While some shelters indeed put no animals down, shelters are allowed to euthanize a percentage of their animals and still keep the no-kill designation. And some animal advocates say trying to place every animal in a home isn’t advisable.
