Does dam or sire determine litter size?
The age of the dog when breeding plays a key part in litter size. The older the dam, the smaller the litter, especially in larger breeds. Dams bred from 2-5 years usually have the largest litters. Despite the age of the dam, the first 2 litters will generally be smaller than the ones afterwards.
Can inbred dogs be AKC registered?
The AKC does not care which two dogs are bred as long as both are AKC registered. In general most dog breeders would not choose to do such a close inbreeding.
How many litter can you register?
The Kennel Club also places a restriction on the number of litters any dam can have in her lifetime, to ensure the dam’s health and wellbeing. Four litters is the limit – and after this point, any further litters that she produces won’t be eligible for registration.

Can a unknown sire cause an AKC registration to be cancelled?
